Because our main page was getting a little long, I’ve collapsed the archives into a dropdown, which is now located under the Links section, on the right.  This should make it a bit easier to scroll through our website and article updates over the last year.

As we welcome the fall season, we’re excited to share some exciting updates from the studio. Da Vinci Players’ Alice in Wonderland is playing for one more weekend, so we hope you come and see it before it closes on October 4th. Angels in America opens on October 22nd and runs for three weekends. Then capping the year is a Holiday Jazz Concert on December 11 and 12. For tickets and reservations to any of our upcoming shows, call the office at 520-731-1559.

Ginny’s art classes start a new session this week. Make sure to check the link to classes for specific times and dates. Da Vinci Prep, which is our theatre class for teens, is well into rehearsals for our fall one-act production/musical theatre vignettes. We’ll keep you updated on performance dates.

Coffeehouse Jam is Friday, October 2nd, from 7:30 to 10:30. As always, we’ll have a dynamic line-up of folk, standard, and musical theatre acts by regulars and newcomers. And we always have Open Mic, so please come and share your talents. If not, it’s fun just to listen to quality entertainment and partake of some delicious café treats.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events and classes.

Halfway through the year, we at the Studio are proud to accomplish so much. Our partnership with Civano Community School culminated in a remarkable art show and theatre performance open to the public. We were also nominated for a LUMIE award as an emerging arts organization in Tucson. And standing ovations were a staple sight at the conclusion of many performances by the da Vinci Players, our resident theatre company. Of course, we continue our Coffeehouse Jams on the first Friday of each month—always an appropriate treat for family and friends!

We begin the summer with a visual art and drama camp for children grades two through nine. We open our three-week production of Midsummer Night’s Dream on June 12, set in modern Manhattan. We look forward to our subsequent production of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, slated for mid-July. I hope you make it a point to see both productions. We’re cranking them up like hot cakes, as they say. And HOT is not just about literal temperature here. We have cast and crew members sizzling with talent and passion!

We are constantly updating our website with useful information to the public. If you have any suggestions for how to improve it, please let us know. We want to make sure we can be of better service to you and that the information you need is readily accessible. You’re also welcome to call us at 520-731-1559 just to talk shows, classes, music, or kids. They’re some of our favorite subjects!

Welcome to a new season at Studio Connections—and to a brand new look of our website, thanks to our friend and designer, Blake Masters! Welcome also to Brian Hale, who is our newest addition to the Artistic Team. Brian will be updating the website and is in charge of publications, as well as a host of production jobs that ensure the quality of our productions.

The da Vinci Players recently closed Once Upon a Mattress, the most successful production we’ve had at the box office to date. We’re ahead of schedule for Little Shop of Horrors and tickets are going to sell fast, if our last turnout is any indication. Make sure to get connected and check out the rest of our challenging and ambitious season.

Summer camp is back!!! As many of you know, Studio Connections started out as a drama and visual art summer camp in 2002. It has since developed into a full-fledge fine arts center with a mission for peace and leadership through high quality arts programming. We took a break from camp last summer to develop our theatre company, and we’re eager to pick up where we left off with a solid curriculum and a fabulous staff. Space is limited to thirty students, so you’ll want to sign up soon if you’re interested.

If you’re not on our listserve, be sure to join us so we can continue to update you with information about shows, auditions, and classes. For more information, call us at 520-731-1559.

We’re happy to announce the unveiling of our new Studio Connections website!

This new look gives us a fresher and sleeker face on the web, but the changes aren’t all asthetic; the “under the hood” improvements will allow us to add and update content much more easily, which means that we’ll be using this site to communicate what’s going on at the studio on a much more regular basis!

Please bear with us over the next few days while the redesign is being completed! The result will be more than worth it, and we appreciate your patience. If you must access the old site, you can do so by navigating to www.studioconnections.net/old.

Thanks!
