Halfway through the year, we at the Studio are proud to accomplish so much. Our partnership with Civano Community School culminated in a remarkable art show and theatre performance open to the public. We were also nominated for a LUMIE award as an emerging arts organization in Tucson. And standing ovations were a staple sight at the conclusion of many performances by the da Vinci Players, our resident theatre company. Of course, we continue our Coffeehouse Jams on the first Friday of each month—always an appropriate treat for family and friends!
We begin the summer with a visual art and drama camp for children grades two through nine. We open our three-week production of Midsummer Night’s Dream on June 12, set in modern Manhattan. We look forward to our subsequent production of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, slated for mid-July. I hope you make it a point to see both productions. We’re cranking them up like hot cakes, as they say. And HOT is not just about literal temperature here. We have cast and crew members sizzling with talent and passion!
We are constantly updating our website with useful information to the public. If you have any suggestions for how to improve it, please let us know. We want to make sure we can be of better service to you and that the information you need is readily accessible. You’re also welcome to call us at 520-731-1559 just to talk shows, classes, music, or kids. They’re some of our favorite subjects!
On stage June 11-28th, 2009.
The daVinci Players present: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, one of Shakespeare’s most popular shows. The comedy combines three interlocking plots that make for a hilariously good time and this particular production will take place in present day, in a city much like Manhattan. The modern twist of this production will make this performance a delightfully fashionable masterpiece!
