On the first Friday night of every month (some holidays excepted), Studio Connections transforms into a unique neighborhood entertainment venue.

Coffeehouse Jams are fun-filled evenings of music in a friendly, relaxed café-style setting – with desserts and various beverages to please the whole family!

With local professional artists making frequent appearances, you don’t want to miss out. Past jams have featured everything from acappella vocal groups to stand up comedy.

Feel like performing? Whether you’re a musical soloist, a member of a group, an open mic aficionado, or a budding comedian, there’s room for you at the coffeehouse.

Admission is $5 per person, and all proceeds benefit the DaVinci Players, our resident theatre troupe.

Secure Your Slot!
Our Coffeehouse Jams are popular, so you need to book ahead. If you are interested in performing as a featured artist or securing an open mic slot, please contact Robert Encila, or call the Studio Connections office at  731-1559.

Studio Connections rocks with its latest production — Little Shop of Horrors

Join director Debbie Runge, and the da Vinci players, in a delightful rendition of this
Off-Broadway hit. Written by Howard Ashman with music by Alan Menken, Little Shop of Horrors is destined to capture your heart.
“The score is incredibly fun!” states Music Director David Craig, “It’s chock full of good times… you’ll have a hard time sitting still as we roll through one R&B classic after another!”
On-stage April 17 – 26th, this affectionate sci-fi spoof tells the story of love sick floral assistant Seymour Krelborn, and Audrey II, the mysterious plant he acquires during a solar eclipse! But when the plant begins to sing, suck blood, and devour customers, Seymour realizes he has more than getting the girl of his dreams to worry about! Laced with dark humor and irresistibly funny, Little Shop of Horrors never fails to entertain.

Welcome to a new season at Studio Connections—and to a brand new look of our website, thanks to our friend and designer, Blake Masters! Welcome also to Brian Hale, who is our newest addition to the Artistic Team. Brian will be updating the website and is in charge of publications, as well as a host of production jobs that ensure the quality of our productions.

The da Vinci Players recently closed Once Upon a Mattress, the most successful production we’ve had at the box office to date. We’re ahead of schedule for Little Shop of Horrors and tickets are going to sell fast, if our last turnout is any indication. Make sure to get connected and check out the rest of our challenging and ambitious season.

Summer camp is back!!! As many of you know, Studio Connections started out as a drama and visual art summer camp in 2002. It has since developed into a full-fledge fine arts center with a mission for peace and leadership through high quality arts programming. We took a break from camp last summer to develop our theatre company, and we’re eager to pick up where we left off with a solid curriculum and a fabulous staff. Space is limited to thirty students, so you’ll want to sign up soon if you’re interested.

If you’re not on our listserve, be sure to join us so we can continue to update you with information about shows, auditions, and classes. For more information, call us at 520-731-1559.

From The AZ Daily Star:

The parody was performed at the Old Spanish Trail Playhouse in St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail. But the show has been extended an extra weekend with performances at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m.Sunday.

Directed by Robert Encila, the cast of 20 portrayed the classic fairy tale as a humorous spoof incorporating witty and oddball main characters such as a mute King Sextimus, played by Todd Luethjohann, and a cheerfully quirky Princess Winnifred, played by Maria Alburtus and Samantha Cormier.

Our Production has been extended for an additional 2 showtimes!

Writes James Reel of the Tucson Weekly:

Once Upon a Mattress is remarkable–a second-string musical that somehow holds up much, much better than some other 50-year-old shows…the show started out in a small theater in 1959, so the Da Vinci Players’ tight space at Studio Connections has historical precedent. The local version brims with good cheer, solid characterizations and fine vocalizations in the most important roles, of which there are surprisingly many… the Da Vinci Players do it justice.

Come see the show!
